Xbox Repair
Myths
There are many supposed tricks on the
internet to fix your Xbox 360 quickly. I urge you to avoid
these methods as they will lead to even more damage. I
have outlined the 2 most common misconceptions found on
the internet below:
Towel Trick Method
Known as the Towel Trick Method
or the Bake your Xbox method this involves wrapping a
towel around your Xbox 360. The theory is that your Xbox
360 will get so hot that it will melt and join some of
the cracked solder joints in your Xbox 360. This is a
very risky technique and I have heard of this baking
internal chips and causing even greater damage.
Your Xbox 360 requires air to
cool it down. By placing a towel around it you are
stopping the airflow and causing even greater heat to get
into your console. By doing this you are not only risking
your internal chips, you are risking permanent damage.
Not only are you risking
permanent damage to your Xbox above all else you are
risking starting a fire. Try explaining that to your
insurance agent!
Freeze your Xbox
A common remedy some people
prescribe is putting your console in the freezer or out
in the cold weather in order to cool it down quicker.
While cooling down is a great idea placing your Xbox 360
in the freezer or outside is not such a good one. The
internal electronics in your Xbox 360 are designed to
operate at room temperate. Exposing your Xbox 360 to
extreme cold will only cause further damage to your
console.
If you are looking for a cheap
and safe way of fixing your Xbox 360 I recommend that you
do not use the towel trick method or place your Xbox 360
in a freezer but rather purchase the below
